The Family Law Practitioners Association of Queensland (FLPA) and the College of Law are excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2025 FLPA and College of Law Practical Legal Training Student Scholarships.
In 2025, two PLT scholarships will be offered – one to a metropolitan south-east Queensland law graduate or young family lawyer and one to a regional law graduate or young family lawyer.
Each recipient of the scholarship receives the equivalent of half the fee for undertaking the College of Law Practical Legal Training course, $500 cash and mentoring and a work experience placement during the practical component of the College of Law PLT.
An experienced FLPA member provides the mentoring which helps each recipient attain the practical legal training component required for completion of the course requirements.
“This will help the students attain practical legal training component required for completion of PLT requirements,” FLPA President Shannon Daykin said.
College of Law Executive Director Ann-Maree David said the College of Law was delighted to be partnering with FLPA to offer this wonderful opportunity to the next generation of lawyers.
“The course is the leading program in Australia for law graduates preparing for admission to practice,” Ann-Maree said.
“Coupled with the cash prize and the mentoring opportunities, these scholarships are an outstanding opportunity for young practitioners.”
Completion of this program leads to the award of the Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice (GDLP).
Applications are now open for young law graduates who are FLPA members and will close 5pm Friday, 3 October 2025.
To apply, applicants will need to send a cover letter and statement addressing each of the General Eligibility and the Selection Criteria; a copy of academic transcripts/records; a brief curriculum vitae and the names and contact details of two referees; and copies of any other supporting documentation.
