Applications now open for 2023 PLT student scholarship

The Family Law Practitioners Association of Queensland (FLPA) and the College of Law are excited to announce that applications are open for the 2023 FLPA and College of Law Practical Legal Training Student Scholarship.

The 2023 scholarship recipient will receive a fully-funded place at the Practical Legal Training course at the College of Law valued at approximately $10,000 and $1,000 cash.

In addition to this outstanding financial prize, FLPA will co-ordinate mentoring and work experience placement for the scholarship winner over the course of PLT.

“This will help the student attain practical legal training component required for completion of PLT requirements,” FLPA President Rebecca Horsley said.

College of Law Executive Director Ann-Maree David said the College of Law was delighted to be partnering with FLPA to offer this wonderful opportunity to the next generation of lawyers.

“The course is the leading program in Australia for law graduates preparing for admission to practice and is worth almost $10,000 alone,” Ann-Maree said.

“Coupled with the cash prize and the mentoring opportunities, this scholarship is an outstanding opportunity for young practitioners.”

Completion of this program leads to the award of the Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice (GDLP).

Applications are now open for young law graduates who are FLPA members and will close 5pm Friday, 29 September 2023.

To apply, applicants will need to send a cover letter and statement addressing each of the General Eligibility and the Selection Criteria; a copy of academic transcripts/records; a brief curriculum vitae and the names and contact details of two referees; and copies of any other supporting documentation.
