Two PLT Scholarships on offer for 2024

In 2024, FLPA and the College of Law are pleased to announce that we are offering two PLT scholarships – one for a regional FLPA student member and one for a metropolitan FLPA student member. And applications are now open for young law graduates who are FLPA members!

In partnership with the College of Law, the annual scholarships are for students intending to practise in family law. The two scholarships each comprise half funded course tuition for PLT at the College of Law, a PLT placement and mentorship with a FLPA member law firm, and a $500 cash prize.

Applications for these scholarships will close on Friday 4 October 2024. Students can apply following the requirements on the scholarship criteria sheet found on our Awards page.

To apply, applicants will need to send a cover letter and statement addressing each of the General Eligibility and the Selection Criteria; a copy of academic transcripts/records; a brief curriculum vitae and the names and contact details of two referees; and copies of any other supporting documentation.

Last year’s recipient Lauren McHugh said she aspires to develop her skills as a solicitor through a commitment to life-long education, maintaining a strong professional network, and prioritising consistent self-reflection.

“The Scholarship holds great significance for me, not only for the financial support it provides but also for the invaluable guidance and mentorship from esteemed family lawyers it offers,” Lauren said.

“Receiving the Scholarship provides foundational support as I commence my career, promoting me to develop my capabilities as a solicitor, and consequentially my ability to provide assistance to my community.”
